I started this series discussing the why of UCS X-Series, removing complexity and making it as easy as possible for our customers to deploy, optimize, scale, manage, and operate hybrid cloud infrastructure. We believe UCS X-Series offer the flexibility to support modern, traditional enterprise, and scale-out apps, helping IT teams gain agility and better respond to dynamic business requirements.
And just in time for this final post in the series, I’m excited to announce that CRN, in their The 2021 Tech Innovator Awards, declared UCS X-Series the winner in the Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure.

Designing an adaptable system designed for modern applications
UCS X-Series adapts to the unpredictable requirements of modern applications. Consolidate onto a single modular system that combines the density and efficiency of blade servers with the expandability of rack servers for better performance, automation, and efficiency. This modularity will enable the system to adapt and support new technologies as they become available.
Introducing next-generation fabric technology
As I stated in the Intelligent Fabric Modules blog, one of UCS’ biggest benefits has always been Unified Fabric. That is carrying data, storage, and management traffic over a single wire. This has a real TCO impact.
Cisco UCS X-Fabric Technology connects non-server nodes to servers with interconnections updated easily to accommodate future connectivity standards as they emerge. Our plan is to expand technology choices over time to include resources such as NVMe storage nodes, accelerator nodes, and nonvolatile memory nodes. Connectivity plans include higher-bandwidth fabric options, PCIe gen 4/5/6 and CXL connectivity.
With UCS X-Series we have innovated to build a modular computing system that allows you to respond at the speed and scale of your business with operations from the cloud and across clouds with Cisco Intersight.
Cisco Intersight is a software-as-a-service (SaaS) infrastructure lifecycle management platform (with on-prem options) that delivers simplified configuration, deployment, maintenance, and support. It supports UCS and HyperFlex hyperconverged infrastructure, and third-party Intersight-connected devices. You can read the whole blog here.
Most importantly, we’ve discussed the economic benefits of UCS X-Series. Simply put, UCS does things differently than other server vendors. Those difference matter and will have a direct impact on your bottom line.
